The concept of the diesel fuel cell is to develop a power unit that utilizes the advantages of fuel cells but does not have the inherit disadvantages of hydrogen gas.
The reformer is the first and most important step in this system.
This is what makes STARLITE different.
It allows us to convert existing fuels, like diesel or gasoline, into a pure hydrogen stream to the fuel cell.
The fuel cell is the second step in this system.
It takes the H2 feed from the reformer and converts it to quiet, efficient electricity.
A high-temperature SOFC works symbiotically with the reformer, further increasing efficiency.
The last unique step is the gas turbine.
It provides compressed air to the Reformer and Fuel Cell while being powered by waste heat and energy.
This further increases total power output and increases system efficiency further.
